The challenge
An Oil & Gas company (client withheld under NDA) needed the electronics for a measurement system that operates in the field, in harsh conditions. The hardest requirement was not point accuracy but continuity: acquiring and storing data at high speed for entire working days, without a single interruption and with no way to service the equipment while it runs.
The solution
- Multicore STM32 microcontrollers running FreeRTOS, sustaining acquisition and storage in parallel without dropping samples.
- A high-speed data acquisition and storage chain, sustained across full measurement days.
- External flash and RAM memory, with a mass-storage file system readable directly on a PC, with no proprietary software.
- Harness design and rugged mechanics in metal, plastic and epoxy/polyurethane resin fills.
The result
